Which statements describe events that occur during interphase? Check all that apply. A cell grows to its full size. The cytoplasm of the cell divides. The nucleus divides into two identical nuclei. Two identical cells are formed. The cell copies its DNA.

EVENTS THAT OCCUR DURING INTERPHASE

Here are the statements that describe events that occur during interphase:

  • A cell grows to its full size
  • The cell copies its DNA

The other statements are does not describe an event that occurs in the interphase, rather, it describes events that occurs in the Mitotic phase.

INTERPHASE

Interphase is the part of the cycle between cell divisions is called. During this period, the cell grows and prepares for mitosis.  It consists of three phases: G 1 , S, and G 2 .

  • G 1  Phase: During this phase, the cell grows. Not only does it get larger, it also produces lots of organelles and proteins.

  • S Phase: The chromosomes in the nucleus in this phase are replicated and the cell ends up with twice as much DNA.

  • G 2   Phase: Once DNA has been replicated, the cell produces many organelles and molecules which will be needed for cell division. Then, the cell enters the next phase of the cell cycle: either mitosis or meiosis.
