What is the neaning of allusion?

 

An allusion is a figure of speech used to reference to something or someone without mentioning it explicitly. It may refer to anything, real or imaginary including historical events, fiction, folklore, etc.

Examples:

He was a real Romeo with her Juliet.

Unfortunately, the towns Robinhood went to prison this year.

He was the towns good Samaritan, regularly helping the poor when no one else cared.
